Smith, who plays Lloyd, is a veteran of the rodeo world
Scenario
A Montana family faces off against others who are encroaching on their land. Forry J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and reverts back to the SoCal accent he usually uses.
Master actor Costner stars as The Duttons
Featuring WatchMojo: The 10 Best Under-the-Radar Summer TV Shows (2018). (Review is for the first two seasons only) I didn’t expect to like this series, but the story, acting, and cinematography are excellent. It’s basically Montana Mafia Wars with a huge testosterone boost (cowboys with rifles on horseback while fishing)!
The show is at its best when it shows the Duttons’ chessboard moving and their enemies getting involved
The show takes a turn for the worse early in the second season, but picks up again midway through the second season. Kelsey Asbill is the weakest link in the role of Monica and she plays poorly, the story falls flat and the acting just misses the mark. I think Cole Houser might be the strongest actor as Rip (along with Costner himself) and I look forward to the rest.
Thomas Rainwater is great too
I love the scenes Rip was in too. The story is loud and the scenery is beautiful. Just like Cormac McCarthy’s “All The Pretty Horses” was a bit more raw and brutal than the title suggests, this show strikes me in a similar vein.
