It follows a seemingly ordinary family with a dark secret: they are vampires. They have chosen not to drink blood despite their natural desire, but one day their truth is revealed. Kelly Macdonald is strong as Helen Radley. Bo Bragason is also strong as Clara Radley. Damian Lewis and the rest of the cast are pretty vague and basically nonexistent. The casting is a huge mistake. The story is about a family of vampires who no longer drink human blood. The problem is that there is no story. It’s more like a few days in the life of a boring vampire family. We go from one scene to the next, and nothing really happens. There are constant scenes where people just look at each other or stare at the wall. Nothing happens and no emotions are communicated to us. People just stand or sit, doing nothing for a few seconds at a time. None of the characters, except Helen and Clara, have any personality. Probably one of the worst characters I’ve seen in a long time is the pseudo-hippie vampire boss Will, also played by Damian Lewis. The character isn’t very well developed, and Lewis’ second-rate acting is no match for him. So basically we have bad actors, bad cast, weak script, and amateurish videography and direction. Then we’re told that it’s not just a horror movie, it’s a comedy. I just finished watching it and honestly I don’t remember anything funny that happened during the entire show. It’s almost laughable how bad the movie is, maybe that’s what it means? Ultimately, the movie is pointless. There’s no point to it. It’s nothing more than a boring documentary about middle-class vampires boringly going about their daily routines. It’s really tiring to watch and when it finally came to an end and finished a long and pointless speech, I said “Finally, thank God it’s over”. I’m giving it a 2 and I think that’s being generous.
