After a traumatic incident during residency, young medical student James Heyman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital to start his life anew. Noticing that it is difficult for James to establish contact with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran theater and film actor Michael Potts) offers him to take a course devoted to relationships with patients and establishing deeper relationships with them. The demons from James’ past begin to catch up with him when he becomes consumed by the story of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flannigan, NEVER, RARELY, SOMETIMES, ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. Her connection to reality begins to weaken as her disturbing nightmares, anxiety-fueled speculations, and physical trauma collide with the harsh reality of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson reunites a strong cast of veterans in his sequel to THE FRENCH SAINT and its predecessor THE GHOST WORLD, presenting a humanistic and unconventional interpretation of the genre.
